As Virgin has observed, I have been a bit contemplative in my past few posts. sunshine is bang on when he says that “you are positive but with bouts of negative ness”. I can see this pattern in my life (and posts), I feel blue, very blue, then I try and talk myself out of it and feel better for sometime. Then again, I feel blue and this cycle continues. I wonder if it is the same with everybody or I have a particular affinity to being blue. Truth is that I wish to be happy and wish happiness to everyone around me. There are things that bring me down. Make me worried, make me feel miserable. I try to cope with that and try my best to stay happy. Sometimes I succeed. Sometimes my troubles have an upper hand. All in all, it’s an interesting life I am leading.
As for sex is concerned, I am still very much celibate. I miss it, but I’m not convinced that I should get into one-night stands. Somehow, it is not “Me”. I am willing to wait for the right person and the right time. What if that never happens? As of now, I am prepared for that eventuality. I’m just going to keep all these urges in a deep freezer. For the time being, at least.
The past weekend was rather dull. No new movies worth watching. In fact there has been a drought since almost 3-4 weeks. “Tashan” was much awaited, but everyone warned me against watching that one. So I stayed away. “Jannat” has just released and has got some OK reviews. But I just cannot stand Emran Hashmi. So, I haven’t seen that one. I have been watching some movies on DVD though. I shall run through some of them.
Mulholland drive: I watched this movie about a fortnight ago. It is a David Lynch movie. This director is quite famous for making movies that are surreal and really screw your mind. After watching MD, I just couldn’t get the movie out of my head. Atleast for 2 days. It was difficult to comprehend what happened. Do watch it and you will know what I am talking about. For those of you blessed with broadband Internet, download the uncensored movie. The bastards at the Indian censor board have chopped off some steamy scenes. There are supposed to be some really well shot lesbian love scenes in this movie. I wasn’t able to watch them because I happened to get the censored version, L
Sin City: This movie was on my “To be watched” movie list since some time. This movie is a treat to watch. It is shot in black and white and you feel like you are inside a comic strip. It boasts of a remarkable star cast. There is a lot of blood and gore. I found it a fascinating watch. It is a visually stunning movie and if I’m not mistaken, has won some awards in the visual department. Another thing I liked about the movie was that there are few dialogues and most of the story is conveyed by the narrative in the background. It is like you are hearing the characters thoughts.
I am not much into war movies, still I watched “Letters from Iwo Jima”. Clint Eastwood has done a good job (as always). Especially since this movie is in Japanese. Later on, as I watched the Special features, I understood that this is the second movie made on the “battle for Iwo Jima”. Clint Eastwood has made “Flag of our fathers”, which is supposed to be the battle for Iwo Jima from the American perspective. “Letters from Iwo Jima” is told from the Japanese perspective. This is probably a first in filmmaking. I plan to watch the “Flag of our fathers”, sometime soon.
Other than that, I have also watched a couple of movies by Chinese director Wong Kar Wai. I have seen “Chunking Express” and “Fallen Angels”. I plan to catch some more of his films. They are mostly about love, loss of love, loneliness – all things I can identify with. Other than the DVDs, I have also watched some of the IPL matches.
That’s about it. Do suggest some good movies that I could watch. I do hope my DVD-waalah has them J
